Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola, said: “Alternattiva Demokratika has always insisted that people living with Myalgic Emcephalomyelitis (ME) and Fibromyalgia (FM) require state support for early diagnosis and ongoing treatment to address the symptoms provoked by these condition. It is a positive step forward for all those involved including the families of these persons, that the government has finally included these two conditions to the list of recognised chronic diseases.”
AD Spokesperson on Disability Issues and Sports, Dr. Claire Azzopardi Lane, said “Furthermore the disabling effect of these two conditions have lead persons living with ME or FM and their families to a financial crisis. Being added to the list of recognised chronic diseases gives them the right to access much needed social benefits.”

Iċ-Chairperson ta’ Alternattiva Demokratika, Prof. Arnold Cassola, qal: “Alternattiva Demokratika dejjem insistiet li persuni li jgħixu bil-Myalgic Emcephalomyelitis (ME) u bil-Fibromyalgia (FM) jeħtiegu l-appoġġ tal-istat biex ikollhom dianjosi kmieni u kura kontinwa biex jindirizzaw is-sintomi li jġibu magħhom dawn il-kundizzjoniet. Huwa pass pożittiv ‘il quddiem għal kull min hu involut inkluż il-familji ta’ dawn il-persuni li fl-aħħar il-gvern żied dawn il-kundizzjonijiet mal-lista ma’ mard kroniku rikonoxxut.”
Il-Kelliema ta’ AD dwar Diżabilita’ u Sport, Dr. Claire Azzopardi Lane, qalet “Barra minn hekk l-effetti ta’ dawn il-kundizzjonijiet wasslu biex persuni li jgħixu bl-ME jew l-FM u l-familji tagħhom jispiċċaw fi kriżi finanzjarja. Il-fatt li dawn il-kundizzjonijiet ġew miżjuda mal-lista tal-mard kroniku rikonoxxut jagħtihom id-dritt biex jieħdu l-benefiċċji soċjali li tant jeħtiegu.”
