ADPD encourages people to attend tonight’s demonstration

Civil society is doing the right thing in organising this demonstration, as what is happening in this country is having an impact on the country as a whole, said ADPD – The Green Party Chairperson Sandra Gauci while encouraging everybody to attend the protest.

Gauci said that the now-concluded magisterial inquiry, in which evidence about fraud, corruption and money laundering has been collected, should be allowed to take its course in the courts of law.  Whilst we reiterate that the presumption of innocence until proven guilty holds, everybody should have the courage to take responsibility according to their role.

All those facing criminal charges should, in the interest of the country, step down until the courts clear their names.  Resignation under these circumstances does not mean an admission of guilt, but indicates that the person has shouldered political responsibility, insisted Gauci.

Gauci concluded by appealing that in such circumstances, it is necessary for all to shoulder responsibility and carefully consider our words.
