AD comments on Political Instability and Mosta’s inefficient Local Council

Yvonne Arqueros Ebejer, AD Deputy Chairperson said: “The state of uncertainty is still looming over parliament despite the parliamentary vote on Thursday. AD is not relishing the expectation of an early general election, but given the circumstances it is important that Malta regains its political stability through a general election.”

Ralph Cassar, AD Secretary General said: “What we have at the moment is a situation where the political party in government, PN, is being held hostage by one MP. It is very clear that both parties in parliament are in themselves coalitions of individuals without a core fundamental identity holding them together. On the other hand, in a situation of a European multi-party democracy in Malta, AD in a coalition would work on a joint programme through building consensus and negotiation. Despite the current political situation, local issues should also be addressed, and Wied il-Ghasel is clear proof of the failure of the Mosta local council.”

Robert Callus, AD local council candidate for Mosta said: “If the Local Council really has the residents’ interest at heart it would right now be making noise about the obnoxious development in Wied il-Ghasel rather than wasting its time in petty bickering. Harsien Patrimonju Mosti are fighting a battle against time since while the appeal will be heard next June, the destruction of the valley is going on this very minute. Yet, instead of support all one hears from the Council is a deafening silence”.

AD tikkummenta dwar l-instabilita’ politika u l-inefficjenza tal-kunsill tal-Mosta

Yvonne Arqueros Ebejer, Deputat Chairperson tal-AD, qalet: “L-istat ta’ incertezza hija xorta imminenti minkejja l-vot parlamentari ta nhar il-hamis. AD mhux qed tifrah ghal-idea ta’ elezzjoni generali mistennija, pero ic-cirkostanzi juru li huwa importanti hanfa li Malta terga’ tirkupra l-istabilita’ politika permezz ta’ elezzjoni generali.”

Ralph Cassar, Segretarju Generali tal-AD, qal: “Li ghandha bhalissa hija sitwazzjoni fejn il-partit politiku li qieghed fil-gvern, il-PN, qieghed jinzamm ostagg minn MP wiehed. Huwa car hafna li z-zewg partiti fil-parlament huma koalizzjonijiet ta individwi minghajr identita’ fundamentali li zzommhom flimkien. Min-naha l-ohra, f’sitwazzjoni ta’ demokrazija Ewropea ta’ aktar minn partit wiehed fil-parlament f’Malta, AD f’koalizzjoni tahdem fuq program kongunt elettorali permezz ta’ kunsens u negozjar. Minkejja s-sitwazzjoni kurrenti tal-politika, kwistjonijiet lokali ghandhom jigu indirizzati wkoll, u Wied il-Ghasel huwa ezempju car tal-falliment tal-kunsill lokali tal-Mosta.

Robert Callus, kandidat tal-AD ghall-kunsill lokali ghall-Mosta, qal: “Jekk il-kunsill lokali tal-Mosta vera ghandu ghall-qalbu l-interessi tar-residenti tieghu, bhalissa jkun qed jaghmel oggezzjoni dwar l-izvilupp oxenn f’Wied il-Ghasel milli joqghid jahli l-hin fuq piki trivjali. Il-grupp Harsien Patrimonju Mosti qieghed jiggieled battalja kontra l-hin peress li ghalkemm l-appell se jinstema’ f’Gunju li gej, id-distruzzjoni tal-wied hija ghadejja bhalissa. Minkejja dan, wiehed jisma’ biss is-silenzju mill-kunsill lokali minflok sapport ghal din il-kawza.
