Human Rights situation in Libya must improve – AD

Robert Callus, AD spokesperson on Migration and Citizenship said: “The EU has helped Libya get rid of its tyrant. This should also mean that any kind of tyranny will not be accepted and this definitely includes giving the green light to certain Libyan people to harass minorities with impunity. The days when European countries had a relationship of blackmail and extortion with tyrants like Gaddafi need to be over once and for all”.

Michael Briguglio, AD Chairperson, said: “Any economic deal by the EU and Malta with the Libyan government should include a human rights clause”.

AD would also like to reiterate its claims for pressuring Libya in ratifying the Geneva Convention for Refugees and allow the UNHCR operate without hindrance within its territories.
