AD Deputy Chairperson and Spokesperson on Sustainable Development Carmel Cacopardo stated that, as evidenced in the Social Impact Assessement the community of Marsaxlokk is not convinced on locating the floating gas storage facility in Marsaxlokk Bay.
“Whilst the risk assessment carried out so far is far from convincing”, added Carmel Cacopardo, “the declaration by the EIA co-ordinator, during yesterday’s public hearing, that a more detailed risk assessment will be carried out is more than welcome. It is expected that no decisions are taken before a clear and definite risk assessment is carried out.”
Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola, said: “The health and safety of the people of Marsaxlokk and Birzebbugacomes before any economic consideration or profit. The floating gas storage facility must be moored outside the port.”

Ic-Chairman ta’ AD l-Professur Arnold Cassola qal li “Is-sahha u is-sigurta tar-residenti ta’ Marsaxlokk u Birzebbuga ghandhom jigu qabel kull konsiderazzjoni ekonomika jew ta’ profitt. Il-hazna tal-gass fuq il-bahar ghandha tkun ankrata barra l-port.”
