Your Excellency,
We are very concerned at the present situation in Ukraine.
We believe that the brutal crackdown of the Ukraine government against the peaceful demonstrators in the past days was totally unwarranted.
Moreover, a solution for the situation of Yulia Tymoshenko, who has now been detained in prison for so long in her poor health condition, should be found sooner rather than later.
The free expression of the opinion of the people cannot and should not be repressed. It is the basis for any thriving democracy. The citizens of Ukraine should be given the opportunity to decide for themselves as to whether they want closer ties with the EU through a referendum or through elections in 2015.
Whilst thanking you for your attention, we call upon you to end the violence against peaceful protests that take place all over the Ukraine and to start a dialogue with the citizens in the Ukraine. We look forward to an early resolution of the present serious issues, according to the Ukrainian people’s will.
