On the anniversary of the assassination of Raymond Caruana on December 5, 1986, ADPD’s Chairperson laid a wreath on Caruana’s grave at the Gudja Cemetery.

Carmel Cacopardo said: “It is important that we never forget he event we are commemorating today. A young man’s life was lost 34 years ago, because of a dark period of political tension and violence in our country. For a time, violence prevailed over reason.

Remembering Raymond Caruana today means denying violence not only in the political process but in other spheres of life. We should always keep in mind that dialogue and discussion must be and remain the cornerstone of the democratic process. Violence is a failure of the democratic process, it must never be allowed to prevail.”

Il-vjolenza u azzjonijiet li jwasslu għaliha qatt ma jistgħu jitħallew jgħollu rashom

Fl-anniversarju tal-qtil ta’ Raymond Caruana li seħħet nhar l-5 ta’ Diċembru tal-1986, iċ-Chairperson ta’ ADPD, poġġa kuruna tal-fjuri fuq il-qabar ta’ Caruana fil-Gudja.

Carmel Cacopardo qal: “Il-ġrajja li qed infakkru illum hi mportanti li nibqgħu nżommuha quddiem għajnejna. 34 sena ilu ġiet mormija ħajja ta’ żagħżugħ f’mumenti ta’ tensjoni politika kbira. Għal waqtiet rebħet il-vjolenza.

It-tifkira ta’ Raymond Caruana illum hi ċaħda tal-vjolenza mhux biss fil-ħajja politika imma fl-oqsma kollha tal-ħajja. Inżommu f’moħħna li d-djalogu u d-diskussjoni għandhom ikunu u jibqgħu l-pern tal-proċess demokratiku. Il-vjolenza u azzjonijiet li jwasslu għaliha qatt ma jistgħu jitħallew jgħollu rashom.”
