Pride 2018: Soċjetà vibranti, b’saħħitha u mlewna

Fi stqarrija illum, fl-okkażjoni ta’ Pride Malta 2018, Alternattiva Demokratika ttenni l-appoġġ tagħha favur pajjiż li fih kulħadd iħossu rispettat tabilħaqq. AD tawgura wkoll li l-attivitajiet tal-Malta Pride 2018 ikomplu jwasslu messaġġ importanti dak li d-diversità mhix żvantaġġ. Id-diversità għalina tfisser soċjetà vibranti, b’saħħitha u mlewna.

Iċ-Chairperson ta’ AD, Carmel Cacopardo tkellem fuq numru ta’ sfidi li hemm bżonn jiġu iffaċjati mill-aktar fis. “Huwa importanti, li mal-kisbiet tal-aħħar snin, inkomplu nikkonsolidaw policies li jissaportjaw l-inkluzjoni u d-diversità f’pajjiżna fuq kull livell. Liġijiet dwar l-ugwaljanza fil-qasam tad-diversità tal-ġeneru huma importanti, iżda hi importanti wkoll il-ħidma edukattiva biex tissaħħaħ l-inklużjoni. Aħna min aħna, aħna lkoll persuni b’dinjità li neħtieġu rispett inkundizzjonat.”

Cacopardo żied jgħid:”Il-ħtieġa ta’ ‘gender clinic’ għall-persuni trans u non-binary, li ilu mwiegħed mill-2015, hemm bzonn li tkun indirizzat bla iktar dewmien u dan biex jaqdi l-ħtiġijiet ta’ saħħa ta’ dawn il-persuni b’mod dinjituż u professjonali. Is-sistema tas-saħħa għandha obbligu soċjali li tindirizza b’mod aħjar u ħolistiku l-bżonnijiet ta’ dawn il-persuni, li għadhom qed isibu bosta ostakoli biex jinqdew minn sistema li s’issa għaliha qishom ma jeżistux bil-bżonnijiet partikolari tagħhom. Huwa ta’ sodisfazzjon li l-Gvern ħabbar li se jwaqqaf il-klinika speċjalizzata. Nittamaw li ma jkunx hemm aktar dewmien.”

“Fl-aħħar mill-aħħar Alternattiva Demokratika tifraħ lill-attivisti tal-komunita’ LGBTQI għad-determinazzjoni tagħhom biex jiġġieldu u jiksbu dak li huwa tagħhom bi dritt. Bħalma għamlet dejjem, AD twiegħed l-appoġġ u l-koperazzjoni ma’ kull min hu ta’ rieda tajba fil-ħidma favur soċjetà aktar inklussiva, ġusta u ikkulurita.”

Pride 2018: A vibrant, strong and colourful society.

On the occasion of the Pride Malta 2018, Alternattiva Demokratika reiterates its commitment to a country in which everybody is respected and feels included. AD hopes that the Malta Pride 2018 events helped to emphasise that diversity is not a problem but an opportunity to stregthen society, making it more vibrant and colourful.

AD Chairperson, Carmel Cacopardo spoke of issues which need action. “It is important that the important steps forward in the past few years are followed up by the implementation of policies which support inclusion and diversity at all levels of society. Legislation on equality, LGBTQI rights and gender identity are very important, however focused education campaigns and initiatives are just as important. Education stregthens inclusion and puts the principles in the law into practice. Whoever we are, we all deserve unconditional respect.”

Cacopardo added:”We urge government to expedite the setting up of the gender clinic, which provides specialised and professional services to trans and non-binary persons. The clinic was promised in 2015, and just yesterday Government announced that it wil be set up soon. It is important that our universal healthcare system caters for all in a dignified and professional manner. These people still have to navigate various obstacles to access healthcare services which respects their identity.”

“Last but not least I take this opportunity to congratulate the LGBTQI community in Malta for achieving so much, for their continued fight for respect and equality, and for contributing to making Malta more diverse, colourful and beautiful. I reaffirm my party’s support and cooperation with all people of goodwill who work in favour of an inclusive, just and colourful society.”
