In view of the treatment of Rebecca Harms, Co-Chairperson of the Greens in the European parliament, at Moscow airport yesterday, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola, said: “Rebecca Harms went to Moscow to meet with civil society organisations working on human rights issues and to attend the trial of the Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko, who is accused of espionage, and of the death of two Russian journalists in Ukraine. She was held at the airport for 4 hours, declared “persona non grata” and then expelled back to Brussels.”

“AD expresses its solidarity with Rebecca Harms and notes that the drawing up of a blacklist of people by the Putin administration, without rendering it public, says a lot about the Russian authorities’ concept of transparency”

Fil-kuntest ta’ kif ġiet trattata Rebecca Harms, il-ko-president tal-Greens fil-Parlament Ewropew il-bieraħ f’Moska, iċ-Chairperson ta’ Alternattiva Demokratika, Prof. Arnold Cassola, qal: “Rebecca Harms marret Moska biex tiltaqa’ ma’ organizzazzjonijiet tas-soċjeta` ċivili li jaħdmu fuq id-drittijet tal-bniedem kif ukoll biex tattendi l-kaz li għaddej il-qorti bħalissa tal-pilota mill-Ukrajna Nadiya Savchenko, li hija akkużata bi spjunaġġ, u bil-qtil ta’ żewġ ġurnalisit fl-Ukrajna. Hi nżammet ġewwa l-ajruport għal 4 sigħat, ġiet iddikjarata “persona non grata” , imbagħad intbagħtet lura Brussell.”

“AD tesprimi s-solidarjeta` ma’ Rebecca Harms u tinnota li din il-lista ta’ persuni “blacklisted” mill-amministrazzjoni ta’ Putin qatt ma ġiet ippubblikata. Il-kunċett ta’ trasparenza tal-awtoritajiet Russi huwa kunċett verament stramb”.
