In view of the Islamic State warning to Italy that if they are attacked they will send over 500,000 migrants to Italy, making pawns out of human lives, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola, said; “The situation is becoming really dangerous so near to our shores. Unilateral intervention is certainly not conducive to solving the present situation. Now that the French and Egyptian governments have asked for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council to discuss the situation in Libya, it is important that the Maltese and Italian governments, that have already asked for a UN mandated intervention in Libya, step up their diplomatic efforts with the international community to ensure that the UN takes urgent decisions on this serious threat to civilisation”.

Fil-kuntest tat-twissija tal-Istat Islamiku lill-Italja li jekk jigu attakkati jibaghtu iktar minn 500,000 immigrant lejn l-Italja, u juzawhom bħala pedini umani ic-Chairperson ta’ Alternattiva Demokratika, il-Prof. Arnold Cassola, qal, “Is-sitwazzjoni daqshekk qrib xtutna qeghda ssir dejjem iktar perikoluza. Intervenzjonijiet unilaterali zgur li ma jgħinux biex isolvu l-problema prezenti. Issa li l-gvernijiet Egizzjani u Francizi talbu laqgha urgenti lill-Kunsill tas-Sigurta’ tal-Ġnus Magħquda biex tkun diskussa s-sitwazzjoni fil-Libja, huwa importanti li l-gvernijiet ta’ Malta u tal-Italja, li diga’ staqsew ghal intervent mill-Ġnus Magħquda, izidu l-isforzi diplomatici taghhom mal-komunita’ internazzjonali, biex jizguraw li l-Gnus Maghquda tiehu decizjonijiet urgenti dwar din it-theddida serja ghac-civilizzazzjoni”.
