AD has noted the contents of the investigation by the Ethics Committee of the International Olympic Committee wherein it was concluded that Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco and Mr Joseph Cassar, President and Secretary General of the Malta Olympic Committee were prepared to violate the rules of the Olympic Movement.

Carmel Cacopardo, AD Deputy Chairperson said: “It has also been noted that the Malta Olympic Committee as well as Messrs Farrugia Sacco and Cassar have been invited by the IOC Ethics Committee to appropriate action in the absence of such actions, the Executive Committee of IOC will consider itself the appropriate measures applicable.”

“In view of the above Alternattiva Demokratika considers that Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco and Mr Joe Cassar should resign forthwith from their MOC posts.”

“AD furthermore regrets that an investigation requested by Justice Minister Chris Said on the 19 June 2012 has not been concluded by the Commission for the Administration of Justice.”

“In view of the conclusions of the Ethics Committee of the IOC Alternattiva Demokratika requests that the said Commission pulls up its socks and conclude its investigation at the earliest.”
