Today, Mina Tolu, Executive Committee member of Alternattiva Demokratika was re-elected as co-spokesperson of the Federation of Young European Greens (FYEG) at an online General Assembly. Mina Tolu’s re-election as one of the spokespersons for FYEG means that Maltese Greens will continue to form an integral part in shaping the European Green movement and green policy in 2020/2021.
As co-spokesperson of FYEG, they will lead the young European Green movement and work together with young Greens across Europe for a more sustainable, social, welcoming, and inclusive Europe. They will also represent young green voices within the committee of the European Green Party.
On their election Mina Tolu said “I want to thank FYEG’s member organisations for their trust and support. The high-level of political discussion at our remote General Assembly and our political resolutions and support for Black Lives Matter and anti-racism, trans rights, mental health, an alternative security policy for the EU, and the legalisation of cannabis show that we are listening to the needs of young people, and defines us as a strong progressive voice in European politics.”
As Alternattiva Demokratika Żgħażagħ delegates in FYEG, Co-Chairperson Giosue Agius and Treasurer Martina Cacopardo said that they are proud to stand beside Mina in their second term as co-spokesperson to FYEG. “May their involvement in local and European politics inspire more youths to become more active in the political sphere despite societal reactionary forces and setbacks.”
