EU Summit: PPE and Socialist Prime Ministers' egoism continues

With reference to the conclusions on migration in the EU summit, AD chairperson, Prof. Arnold Cassola, said: “Whilst it is positive that EU leaders have accepted to tie the 38-point immigration action plan to timeframes that have to be indicated by the European Commission, no mention at all of the real solution to Malta’s situation – the drastic reform of the Dublin II convention which would allow migrants to move from Malta – has been made. The egoism of the PPE and Socialist Prime Ministers knows no bounds.  A good number of them just do not care about responsibility and burden sharing and the changing of the Dublin convention and thus Malta is being left in the lurch by them.”

B’referenza għall-konklużjonijiet dwar il-migrazzjoni tas-summit tal-UE, iċ-chairperson ta’ AD, Prof. Arnold Cassola, qal: “Filwaqt li huwa pożittiv li l-mexxejja tal-UE aċċettaw li jorbtu it-38 punt tal-pjan ta’ azzjoni dwar l-immigrazzjoni ma’ żminijiet speċifiċi li jridu jiġu indikati mill-Kummissjoni Ewropea, ma kien hemm l-ebda referenza għas-soluzzjoni li teħtieġ is-sitwazzjoni ta’ Malta – riforma radikali tal-konvenzjoni ta’ Dublin II biex l-immigranti jkunu jistghu jitilqu minn Malta. L-egoiżmu tal-Prim Ministri Soċjalisti u tal-PPE hija bla tarf. Numru mhux hażin minnhom ma jimpurtahomx mill-qsim tar-responsabbilta` jew mill-ħtieġa li tinbidel il-kovenzjoni ta’ Dublin u għalhekk Malta reġgħet tħalliet għal rieħha.”
