ADPD-The Green Party Chairperson Carmel Cacopardo has asked the Broadcasting Authority to issue without delay the necessary directives to ensure that the impartiality that each broadcast media station in Malta is obliged to ensure is implemented.
He was referring to the Constitutional Court decision on broadcasting which last week underlined that the obligations of impartiality apply to all broadcast media and not just to public services.
Cacopardo reiterated that political party stations repeatedly ignored ADPD activities and in spite of presenting its case about this on multiple occasions no action has been taken.
“We also expect that those who clamour for impartiality in state broadcasting should lead by example and apply the same principle to those private stations in their control – otherwise their complaints would simply be empty rhetoric,” concluded Cacopardo.

Ksur tal-obbligu kostituzzjonali tal-imparzjalità
Iċ-Chairperson ta’ ADPD-The Green Party Carmel Cacopardo kiteb lill-Awtorità tax-Xandir fejn talabha biex mingħajr dewmien toħroġ id-direttivi meħtieġa biex ikun assigurat l-imparzjalità li kull servizz tax-xandir f’Malta għandu l-obbligu li jassigura.
Huwa qal dan fi sfond ta’ kawża kostituzzjonali dwar ix-xandir deċiża ftit ġranet ilu fejn il-Qorti iddikkjarat li l-imparzjalità hi obbligu tal-mezzi kollha tax-xandir u mhux biss ta’ dawk pubbliċi.
Cacopardo tenna li l-istazzjonijiet politiċi ripetutatement jinjoraw l-attivitajiet ta’ ADPD u li minkejja li ADPD kemm-il darba ressaq l-ilmenti tiegħu dwar dan, baqa’ qatt ma’ sar xejn mill-Awtorità tax-Xandir.
“Nippretendu ukoll li min qiegħed jinsisti dwar l-imparzjalità fix-xandir pubbliku jkun huwa stess li jagħti eżempju u dan billi jassigura l-imparzjalità fuq il-mezzi privati taħt il-kontroll tiegħu – inkella din l-insistenza tkun waħda artifiċjali,” temm jgħid Cacopardo.
