Simon Galea – Alternattiva Demokratika Spokesperson for Agriculture and Animal Welfare said: “Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Rights Roderick Galdes has totally ignored the persons suggested by Animal Rights Coalition. Both nominees were left out of the Animal Welfare Council. Following the introduction of Animal Welfare Act in 2002 it has been the normal procedure for two persons nominated by animal rights organisations to be appointed to serve on the AWC, a practice laid down by the same Act.
“The Animal Rights Coalition, together with others involved in animal welfare, deserve an explanation by Roderick Galdes. It is unacceptable for such valid stakeholders to be left out of the equation”, concluded Prof. Arnold Cassola, AD Chairperson.
